"浪費時間是所有支出中最奢侈昂貴的" 出處問題

最近看到一句話 "浪費時間是所有支出中最奢侈昂貴的"，感覺很不錯，想引用到廣告文宣上、且附上原文，所以希望查到它的正確出處和原文，而很多網站都說這句話的來源是富蘭德林。但是上網搜尋後發現，有關 Benjamin Franklin 所說的名言中，比較和時間有關的名言 (網址)：

• If time be of all things the most precious, wasting time must be the greatest prodigality.

• You may delay, but time will not.
• Time is money.
• Take time for all things: great haste makes great waste.

可以看見，以第一句最像中文原意，但其實意思還是差很遠。所以特地上網透過關鍵字查詢，發現最像中文原意的應該是以下這句：

Waste of time is the most extravagant and costly of all expenses.

若搜尋上述文字，大部分都沒有寫出處，有的網頁標示它是美國諺語，但另一個網頁中，看到出處不是富蘭克林，而是 Theophrastus，而另外搜尋了維基百科，Theophrastus 是一位名為 "泰奧弗拉斯托斯" 的公元前 4 世紀的古希臘哲學家和科學家。

不過在 http://www.brainyquote.com 網站上搜尋 Theophrastus，查到有關時間的這句名言應該是(網址)：  

Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.

也和中文原意不太一樣，真是頭痛。
